About Us

Mission

The mission of the American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) is to provide financial assistance for breast cancer screenings and diagnostic tests for uninsured and underserved individuals, regardless age or gender.  Over 50 percent of the persons who receive funding assistance from ABCF are already symptomatic.

ABCF also distributes breast cancer information to everyone additionally support kits are available to those diagnosed with breast cancer.  This information is available upon request in both English and Spanish.

What We Do

ABCF maintains partnerships with medical clinics in metropolitan areas by funding breast cancer screenings to provide reduced-fee breast cancer screenings to ABCF-funded patients.  While medical clinics often refer their patients to ABCF for funding, ABCF also receives calls for assistance nationwide from persons who have knowledge of our grant programs.

How We Do What We Do

With the infusion of new leadership in 2011, ABCF has streamlined its operations and transformed the way it does business.  It is classified as a 501 (c) 3 organization, and is guided by a volunteer board of directors, and led by a seasoned chief executive officer.  ABCF receives its funding from its annual golf tournament, corporate sponsorships, licensing agreements, workplace and planned giving, direct mail, and individual donations.

ABCF raises funds relentlessly so that it can:

  • Continue to partner with medical clinics across the nation to provide affordable breast cancer screening and treatment services, especially for those who are usually not eligible to receive funding assistance because of their age and gender
  • Further reduce screening and treatment costs for those in need
  • Increase the number of persons who will receive funding assistance toward the provision of vital screening and diagnostic testing
  • Continue its efforts to educate the public on the importance of breast self examinations for early detection and treatment of breast cancer
